Shepherd's life
A visit to the farm to see up close the daily life of a shepherd and everything involved in raising sheep.

An experience devoted to getting to know the olive tree: its features, its care, the harvest and how the oil is made.
When the sun sets, it hides behind the mesa of Monte Santo, which turns blue. The clouds look like a torn piece of sky. Walking among the rows, the petrol-coloured leaves open to catch the last rays of the day. Tiny green beads grow from what was once a flower, ready to become olives.
My father taught me to check the olive trees one by one, looking after their health and, at the same time, learning to appreciate their imperfections. Only through pruning and care for every single tree can I ensure a good year.
The visit ends with a tasting of the olive grove's products, with traditional Sardinian specialities such as cured meats and cheeses.

Shearing is a celebration. When the first hot days arrive and the afternoon sun grows heavy, it is time to free the sheep from their winter fleece.

At Tenute Pericu you can take part in the olive harvest yourself, which for most of the grove is still done by hand.
