Sheep shearing
Shearing is a celebration. When the first hot days arrive and the afternoon sun grows heavy, it is time to free the sheep from their winter fleece.

A visit to the farm to see up close the daily life of a shepherd and everything involved in raising sheep.
I remember, as a child, going with my grandfather to gather the sheep and take them to pasture. I loved holding his knotted staff, twice as tall as me, planting it in the ground and jumping about shouting “OHH OHHH” to steer the flock the right way. Trainers in summer, boots in winter.
My grandfather taught me never to run when the sheep are gathered: sudden movements frighten them, and then they give less milk. Being a shepherd means respect, above all. The same respect my father now passes on to my son.
The tour includes bringing the flock from the pasture to the milking room and feeding the animals, and ends with an aperitivo on the farm. At the right times of year you can join the shearing and watch the milk being worked and the sheep's cheese being made.

An experience devoted to getting to know the olive tree: its features, its care, the harvest and how the oil is made.

At Tenute Pericu you can take part in the olive harvest yourself, which for most of the grove is still done by hand.
