The olive
harvest

Branches heavy with olives in the estate's olive grove
Description

At Tenute Pericu you can take part in the olive harvest yourself, which for most of the grove is still done by hand.

Mist crowns the top of Monte Santo and lies over the plain like a bridal veil. The crisp morning air makes you turn up the collar of your jacket, still a light one, but not for long.

Some mornings you need gloves: fingers gently pull the olives from the younger trees, leaving the heavier work to the shaker. The crates fill with bright green tinged with violet, ready to become green gold.
