Shepherd's life
A visit to the farm to see up close the daily life of a shepherd and everything involved in raising sheep.

Shearing is a celebration. When the first hot days arrive and the afternoon sun grows heavy, it is time to free the sheep from their winter fleece.
It brings people together: the work, tiring as it is, unites family and community, and everyone has a role, even the children. Some tie the animals, some cut the wool, some gather it and pack it into sacks. Someone brings cool water for the group. People chat, and sometimes sing.
In the past people used shears sharpened by the knife grinder down the street; today many prefer electric clippers, like the ones for hair. Among the helpers there are beginners, who watch, learn and are allowed a few tries, and experts, who compete to shear the most. There is no prize, but lunch when the work is done is guaranteed.

An experience devoted to getting to know the olive tree: its features, its care, the harvest and how the oil is made.

At Tenute Pericu you can take part in the olive harvest yourself, which for most of the grove is still done by hand.
